They lie flat like shingles on a roof.
When the scales lie flat, light bounces off the hair evenly.
That is what shine is.
When the scales lift up, light scatters.
Hair looks dull. Argan oil helps the scales lie back down.
It cuts down frizz
Frizz is what happens when those same scales lift and let water in from the air.
Argan oil coats the strand and keeps damp air out.

It helps stop breakage
When hair is rough, strands catch on each other and snap.
Smooth hair slides past itself. Less catching means less snapping.
Argan oil does not make hair grow faster.

What argan oil does for skin
Argan oil softens skin, the same way avocado oil does.
The difference is how it feels.

What cold-pressed and unrefined mean
Cold-pressed means the oil is squeezed out without heat.
Heat is faster and gets more oil out.
But heat burns off some of the good parts, including the vitamin E.
Unrefined means nothing happens to the oil after that.
It is not bleached. The smell is not removed.
The color is not removed.
Real argan oil has a faint nutty smell.
If argan oil smells like nothing at all, it has been refined.

Argan oil suits almost everyone.
It is light, so it works on fine hair that heavier oils would weigh down.
Argan oil comes from a nut.
If you have a tree nut allergy, ask your doctor before you use it.
As with anything new, try a little on a small patch of skin first.
How to use it
Three drops in your hand.
Rub your hands together.
Press it into your face, or smooth it through your hair.
For hair, start at the ends and work up.
Stay away from the roots if your hair gets oily fast.
Use less than you think you need. You can always add more.
